I wanted to let you all know that we tried some frozen GFCF pancakes from Trader Joes, and they are really good. My picky daughter won't eat them, but I love them. They have a little of the sort of rubbery rice ball/mochi texture, but they don't have any of the gritty texture some of the GFCF flour mixtures. They cook quickly in the microwave.

Hrm...guess I'll need to keep a food diary to check this out then. She has no issues with the ZenSoy brand of chocolate soy milk, so I'm hesitant to believe soy.

I'll try a food diary and see if we can spot it. I'm just being lazy, food diaries are such a pain to keep properly.

Our Pediatrician "diagnosed" my guy with a milk protein allergy as an infant. I was off all dairy while I was nursing and he was always hungry so I needed to supplement him. Soy formula was just as bad so I had to use the hypoallergenic strains used for colicy kids.

I use Rice Dream when a recipe calls for milk but I may switch to Almond Milk since the calorie count is lower.

We use Pacific Organic Almond Milk. It's completely gluten, casein, and soy free. We went through quite a process of figuring out which milk alternative would work for Aiden. Some still have casein, some have soy, etc.

How does she do with soy in general?
Angela Comment by Angela on July 9, 2009 at 8:51pm
See I would have thought chocolate in general, but she can have some ricemilk chocolate bar (as a treat) without suffering any consequences.

(U)D is a certification that the product is a Kosher DAIRY product. That said, as a toddler J.T. would get spots after ingesting chocolate so he hasn't had any since then.

Hey Angela,
I remember when I would give Hudson the Chocolate Silk ...he would double over with pain. We use a homopathic doctor and found out that it was the chocolate that bothered him!! Other "allergies" may appear as these kids get used to the diet. This may not be the answer for Adara......I hope you'll find an answer soon. God Bless.
Angela Comment by Angela on July 9, 2009 at 10:30am
Is Silk really casein free? Does anybody know? Adara is having issues, and I'm trying to figure out what's going on. The ONLY thing she has consumed every time prior to the issue is Light Chocolate Silk. It says it's guaranteed free from lactose, dairy, and casein...but it has (U)D on the front...anybody else had issues after consumption of Silk?

I'm trying to avoid having to do another food diary, but I may have to anyway since I have no idea WHAT in the Silk would be bothering her!
